So, I got a call one day from a Retired United Pilot who asked if I could make a State flag for him, I said maybe, which One? He said He’s just retired in Arizona and wanted a flag for his patio. Being a Native AZ’n, I had always wanted to make our flag and had been asked before but never had the courage to do it on spec. It just looked way too difficult to take up the challenge but this gave me the courage and so I said sure. Well, it was more than a challenge working out the “math”

And keeping a steady hand while routering out the break lines & the star by hand made it almost impossible not to “mess” up (which I did slightly) and since I guarantee my work 100% the Pilot wanted me to make him a new one. I love jobs like these because I always under bid them and then spend the next 20 days swearing, I’ll never do it again because of all the time and wood I end up wasting, LOL! In the end, I gave the original to my Uncle who’s also born & raised in AZ

Then of course I had several people ask if I had ever made a Texas flag. Nope, but if I could make an AZ flag this had to be doable!

 

Unfortunately, as soon as I made one the “buyers” seemed to have dried up! As luck would have it however, a good friend of mine had just moved his Family to Houston and his Birthday was just right around the corner! Funny thing was, he didn’t even know I “made” it by hand. He thought I bought it for him!
